A ready-to-freeze, packaged alcoholic beverage having a pH of about 3.0 - about 5.0 includes an alcohol, sugar, a flavoring, water, a stabilizer blend of a locust bean gum, guar gum and, optionally, pectin, and other ingredients. The beverage is shelf-stable and can be frozen in a freezer to produce a frozen or semi-frozen, slushy cocktail which retains its consistency for a prolonged time period. Also disclosed is a container for packaging the beverage.
