FIELD: agriculture, in particular, fruit storage. SUBSTANCE: method involves picking test samples of fruits from five trees typical for particular area, with apple trees being of the same kind and age, grown on similar rootstocks and having equal yields picked up at the level of 1.5-2 m from trunk base at peripheral and inner portions of tree top, with volume of average sample being thirty fruits and only healthy fruits typical for selected trees by their size and color for given time being picked up; determining weight and volume of fruits in laboratory; placing fruits in exsiccators provided with gas-discharge tube and tightly sealing by cover; withdrawing gas samples, upon expiration of 24 hours, by means of polyethylene syringe with the volume of 1 cm; introducing gas sample into gas chromatograph with flame-ionizing detector; separating ethylene from other components of air in column, having length of 1 m and filled with 15%-carbonic wax, and observing air component separation at temperature of 76 C and carrier gas (nitrogen) flow rate of 30 ml/min; determining nitrogen content by calibration curve; forming fruit batches for prolonged storage on the basis of ethylene release intensity extent. EFFECT: reduced labor intensity and cost of optimum picking time prediction, decreased loss and provision for retention of high quality of fruits during prolonged storage term and increased keeping quality. 2 cl, 3 tbl |
