A glass substrate which is reinforced by surface ion exchange comprises the following compsn.: 45-65 SiO2; 0-20 Al2O3; 0-5 Ba2O3; 4-12 Na2O; 3.5-12 K2O; 0-8 MgO; 0-13 CaO; 0-20 ZrO2. The sum of SiO2, Al2O3 and ZrO2 is max. 70% and the compsn. may contain BaO and/or SrO such that MgO+CaO+BaO+SrO is 11-24%. The alkaline oxides Na2O/Na2O+K2O are given as 0.22-0.6. |
