The graphic emulation method in a page printer to which band buffering is applied is composed of : first step of comparing previous and present graphic mode position values(Y) of image file before processing for processing graphic data : second step in which if the previous and the present position value are equal, overwrite flag is set 'ON', otherwise, the difference is computed and the gap is filled up; third step in which the present position value(BY) is substituted for the previous position value(AY) and initialized for processing image files; and fourth step in which if an overwrite flag is 'ON', the present images are overwritten to symbol buffers and if the overwrite flag is not 'ON', the present images are registered to symbol buffers.
