The device includes a longitudinally extending rigid load-bearing member (8) which is located in a guide (9) and runs in and out of the loading space (1a). The load-bearing member is supported outside the loading space and at the front of it. At least one longitudinally movable load lifting member (10) is located on the load-bearing member. A loading or unloading station (11) is formed from stationary lifting pillars (13,14), one located behind the other.
