The invention concerns a superconducting microwave resonator provided with two serial circuits each of which has a plurality of Josephson contacts and a partial inductance. The two serial circuits form a resonance circuit and means are also provided for relaying the microwave energy emitted by the oscillator to a load resistor. The number of Josephson contacts in each serial circuit can be up to 3000. The resonator can advantageously take the form of an appropriately structured superconducting layer on a substrate.
