The method involves exposing all image areas of a organic photoconductive layer (12) on the drum surface during at least a complete revolution of the drum (10). The development of the exposed image areas of the photoconductive surface is suppressed during the revolution. The image areas are then charged to enable the subsequent exposure and development of the surface. The initial exposure of all the image areas on the drum surface allows a training of the conductor before the start of the printing process.
