An optical storage disc (1), esp. a CD, CD-ROM, etc., has a data storage side (2) which is covered with a film (3). The film is highly transparent, has a light transmission in excess of 80% and does not influence the scanning light beam from a data reading unit. The film pref. consists of polycarbonate and is pref. 0.1-0.25 mm thick.
