Regeneration of zeolite(s) contaminated with polyhalogenated or poly:cyclic aromatic hydrocarbon(s)

Process for decontaminating and regenerating zeolites, which are contaminated with polyhalogenated hydrocarbons, esp. polyhalogenated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans, as well as with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, is novel in that the contaminated zeolites are treated in a fixed bed or fluidised bed reactor at 50-120 deg C with ozone-contg. gas and then the waste gases leaving the reactor are cleaned. Also claimed is the appts. for carrying out the above zeolite decontamination and regeneration comprising a ozonator (2) and a heated fixed bed or fluidised bed reactor (7).
