Appts. for sepn. of magnetic microparticles from a suspension of them in a liq., using a magnetic field, has a pipette connected to a pump, a magnet, and a mechanism to move the pipette or magnet to and from each other, so that the microparticles are deposited on the inner wall of the pipette. Also claimed is a method for washing magnetic microparticles, where a suspension is prepd. of the microparticles in a liq. which is passed to a pipette which is moved through a magnetic field, and the liq. is ejected from the pipette. A second liq. is fed into the pipette, and the magnet is removed from the pipette zone. The second liq. is ejected into a container, together with the microparticles. The pipette is pref. rotated around its longitudinal axis, or the magnet is rotated round the pipette axis. The pipette is also moved along its axis. The pipette is a tube with a fitted tip. A source radiates the contents of the pipette, with a detector to register the rays. The pipetting arm of an automatic analysis appts. is used to move the pipette. <IMAGE> |
