<p>There is provided an optical connector (10) which comprises a ferrule (11) having a butt end face (11a) at its front portion and positioning pin holes (11b) formed at its opposite side in the widthwise direction, and a plurality of optical fibers (12a) mounted to a rear end (11d) of said ferrule, and which is abutted against an another optical connector. The ferrule (11) has a constitution in which the positioning pin holes (11b) and the plurality of optical fibers (12a) are arranged in parallel with each other at least in the vicinity of the butt end face (11a) so that an arrangement plane (P) of the plurality of optical fibers (12a) and the positioning pin holes (11b) is inclined by an angle of theta ((90 - theta c1) / 2 < theta < theta c0 ) with respect to a plane of the abutting direction, and so that a line (Li), in which said butt end face (11a) and said arrangement plane (P) cross each other, is orthogonal to each axis of optical fibers (12a). theta c0 is a critical angle of light emitted from a core of the optical fiber to air and theta c1 is a critical angle of light emitted from the core to a clad of the optical fiber. <IMAGE></p> |
