Electrical connector for surface mounting to a printed circuit board

An electrical connector (76) is provided for surface mounting to a printed circuit board (96). The connector includes a dielectric housing (78) having a mounting face (92). A conductive boardlock (56) is secured to the housing and includes a first portion (58) having a leg (64) projecting beyond the mounting face for locking reception in a boardlock-receiving aperture (108) in the printed circuit board. A second portion (60) of the boardlock (56) has a foot (72) for connection to a ground trace (110) on the printed circuit board. The first and second portions (58,60) are generally planar and generally perpendicular to each other for resisting movement of the connector relative to the printed circuit board in different perpendicular directions.
