ROLLING/SLIDING PART, ITS PRODUCTION, ROLLER FOR CAM FOLLOWER AND BALL BEARING

摘要

PURPOSE: To provide a rolling/sliding part made of inexpensive ceramics. CONSTITUTION: This rolling/sliding part such as a roller 3 of a rocker arm 1 or a roller of a ball bearing is obtained by using a sintered compact made by sintering a material prepared by incorporating silicon nitride power 0.2-1μm in average particle diameter with 5-20wt.% of at least a sintering auxiliary such as Y2 O3 or Al2 O3 under a pressure of 1-10atm. By this method, the production coat for this part is reduced compared to with that of conventional high- grade ceramics, and although the density and mechanical strength are inferior to those of the high-grade ceramics, they are higher than those of common metallic material; besides the pores which serve as wells for lubricant are provided on the surface of the sintered compact.
