PURPOSE: To obtain the subject fiber having roughened fiber surface and dry- touch feeling by specifying the amount of inorganic particles in a polyester fiber, the drawing condition, etc. CONSTITUTION: A polyester containing ethylene terephthalate as main recurring unit is incorporated with 1.0-3.0wt.% of anatase-type titanium dioxide having an average primary particle diameter of 0.1-17μm and the produced polyester composition is spun to obtain an undrawn polyester yarn. The yarn is drawn in two stages under the following conditions. (i) Total draw ratio =(0.45-0.60)×MDR, (ii) the 1st stage draw ratio=(0.40-0.55)×MDR and (iii) HRT<=Tc and Tg <=HPT<=Tc wherein MDR is the maximum draw ratio, Tc( deg.C) is crystallization temperature, Tg( deg.C) is glass transition temperature, HRT( deg.C) is the temperature of the 1st stage drawing zone and TPT( deg.C) is the temperature of the 2nd stage drawing zone.
