PURPOSE: To provide a new method for selective electrodialysis of hydrogen ion from a water soln. contg. hydrogen ion and other cationic ions. CONSTITUTION: A multilayer ion exchange membrane consisting of an anion exchanger layer on an anode side with an ion exchange capacity of 0.5-4 milli- equivalent/g dry resin, a fixed ion concn. of 1-20 milli-equivalent/g H2 O and a film thickness of 0.1-20μm, an intermediate cation exchanger layer with a film thickness of 0.1-50μm and a porous layer on a cathode side with a porocity of 10-90% and a film thickness of 5-300μm, is used.
