PURPOSE: To lower the static friction force between the slider and a recording medium of a floating type magnetic head equipped in a hard disk device of a CSS system, etc., and to decrease the force necessary for starting the recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A thin protective film 14 to protect a thin-film element 3 is formed on contact surfaces 5, 5 of the slider 1 and a thin film 15 of the same material as the material of the protective film 14 is formed on the surface thereof. The film thicknessδof the thin film 15 is set at, for example, >=10nm, thereby, flooding of a liquid film between the slider and the recording medium is prevented and the increase in the static friction force by the flocculation of the water film is prevented. The contact area with the recording medium is can be narrowed and the static friction force can be decreased by setting the area ratio of the thin film 15 with the contact surface 5 to, for example, <=80%. As a result, a starting torque of the disk can be decreased.
