摘要

PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display device where the orientation stability of liquid crystal domain is enhanced to improve reliability and simultaneously high-contrast picture display is performed by changing the shape of a hole formed in a couter electrode in a picture element electrode. CONSTITUTION: In this liquid crystal display device including a base plate having at least a display picture element, a base plate including a transparent electrode having the hole 303 whose shape is nearly rectangular at a part of an area opposed to the display picture element, and a liquid crystal panel consisting of liquid crystal as component element; relation L1>L2 is satisfied when it is assumed that the hole width near the end of the picture element in the opposed part of the display picture element to the picture element electrode 302 is L1 and the hole width near the center of the display picture element is L2.
