PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of performing the display of plural tones. CONSTITUTION: In this liquid crystal device 8, plural picture elements are grouped into groups 10. The twist angle of surface orientation is different among the picture elements 2, 4 and 6 in a certain group 10, and a switching threshold is different among the picture elements in the group 10. The picture elements in each group 10 share a common address designation electrode and some of the picture elements are controlled to be switched without switching other picture elements. Therefore, such a liquid crystal device 8 provides several tones. |
