PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance of a very thin plate-shaped granule emulsion. SOLUTION: This very thin plate-shaped granule host emulsion contains a distributing medium, and silver halide plate-shaped grains, which has a 111} main surface and which contains bromide more than 70% by mole in relation to silver and iodide at least at 0.25% by mole and which has plate-shaped grains more than 90% of projection area and which has the mean ECD at least at 0.7μm and (e) the mean thickness less than 0.07μm. In the method having a process of chemical and spectral sensitization of the emulsion, halide ion containing silver iodide and silver chloride is added to the very thin plate-shaped granular host emulsion, and the silver halide projection part, which forms the epitaxial connection, is deposited to 50% of the surface area of the plate-shaped grains, and the projection part includes the homographic face-centered cubic lattice crystal structure and contains the chloride ion at a concentration higher by 10% by mole than that of the plate-shaped grains and contains iodide at a concentration raised by addition of the iodide ion.
