PURPOSE: To check existence of IgE or determine the quantity of existing IgE by bringing a diluted blood or blood component into contact with solubleα-chain of a high affinity IgE receptor (FcεRI). CONSTITUTION: A receptor peculiar to IgE having a high affinity is FcεRI solely, and the part committed to the bond with IgE isα-chain. Therefore, by bringing a solid carrier to which anti-IgE antibody is fixed, into contact with a test specimen or its diluted matter, if IgE exists in the test specimen, the IgE is bonded with the anti-IgE antibody and fixed to the solid carrier. Then, by bringing this solid carrier into contact with the solubleα-chain of FcεRI, theα-chain is coupled with the fixed IgE. The existence of IgE in the test specimen or its quantity is determined from existence or quantity of the solubleα-chain of the thus bonded FcεRI.
