PURPOSE: To perform color display without using a color filter by allotting and making the light beams of three primary colors incident on picture elements performing the display of respective colors on a display panel by an optical means. CONSTITUTION: The optical means 2 is arranged on a side where the light beams from the liquid crystal display panel 1 are made incident, and the liquid crystal display panel 1 where picture elements R, G and B performing the display of the respective colors, red, green and blue are formed in order to perform color display is used as the liquid crystal display panel 1. The optical means 2 gives the light beams of three primary colors to the liquid crystal display panel 1 and the light beams of three primary colors LR, LG and LB are allotted to the picture elements R, G and B performing the display of the corresponding colors. Therefore, the red, green and blue display is performed on the picture elements R, G and B even when the color filter is not constituted for the picture elements R, G and B. |
