PURPOSE: To provide a device for rapidly detecting the abnormal part (failure) of an underground transmission line for example the contact failure of a bond wire. CONSTITUTION: An ultraviolet detection pipe 1 is provided at a part to be monitored (for example a connection part) of an underground transmission line to detect discharge light generated at the failure part. Then, a detection time is counted by a judgment circuit 2, the presence of absence of failure is judged from the counted time, and then a contact signal is sent to a reporting means 3 or a display 4, thus reporting that there was a failure. Therefore, even a failure which does not cause fault current to flow to the part to be monitored can be positively detected for rapid repairing. |
