PURPOSE: To provide an image forming method capable of forming a uniform coating layer of magnetic toners on a developer carrying member and forming excellent images stable over a long period. CONSTITUTION: The developer carrying member having a rough surface is used and a developer formed by adding particulates of a polishing agent to toner particles is used as a developer in this image forming method having a stage for developing the latent images formed on a latent image holder by transporting the developer by the developer carrying member disposed to face the latent image holder. In addition, the development is executed under the conditions under which the center line average roughness Ra (μm) of the rough surface of the developer carrying member, average inter-peak intervals Sm (μm), the number average particle size (d)(μm) of the particulates of the polishing agent and the atm. (m) (pts.wt.) of the particulates of the polishing agent to be added to 100 pts.wt. toner particles satisfy (1) to (3). (1) 4<=Sm/Ra<=40, (2) 0.1<=d/Ra<=1.5, (3) 0.4<=m/d<=5. |
