PURPOSE: To form an electron transfer layer having an excellent electron transfer capability by a method wherein anthraquinone compound expressed by a specific formula is employed. CONSTITUTION: A first electrode 15 to which a voltage is applied, a hole transfer layer 13 through which holes are transferred to a light emitting layer 14, the light emitting layer 14 which is made to emit light by transferred holes and electrons, an electron transfer layer 15 through which electrons are transferred to the light emitting layer 14 and a second electrode 16 are built up. By employing anthraquinone compound expressed by the formula as the material of the electron transfer layer 15, an excellent electron transfer capability can be obtained. In the formula, R and R' denote substituents and (n1 ) and (n2 ) denote the numbers of the respective substituents and are arbitrary positive integers from 1 to 4. R and R' may be alkyl groups such as methyl groups, ethyl groups or propyl groups, alkoxycarbonyl groups such as butoxycarbonyl groups or hexylcarbonyl groups, halogen such as clone groups, nitro groups or ciano groups. The anthraquinone compound expressed by the formula has the excellent electron transfer capability. |
