PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide software update technique which improve reliability by stopping the execution of a system and restarting the execution in a 'brand-new' state. SOLUTION: A fault tolerant process 103 has volatile memory 105, and a code 107 contains a fault tolerant application code ill and a libft code 113 which is connected to the code 111 when the code Ill is compiled. The application code 111 uses a routine of the libft code 113 and carries out recovery when the process 103 is crashed or hung-up. The restart of the process 103 is performed by watchd daemon 104 when it is crashed or hung-up.
