PURPOSE: To provide a semiconductor light-emitting element of a structure, wherein a deterioration is not caused in the end faces of the lement, an adjustment of a resonator length is easy and the optical beam of the element can be taken out in the direction rectangular to the surface of a substrate. CONSTITUTION: In a double heterostructure semiconductor light-emitting element of a structure, wherein an active layer 4 is pinched by clad layers 3, 6 and 8 from both sides of the layer 4, a semiconductor layer having at least a sandwich structure is laminated on the surface of a substrate 1 and the layer 4 is formed of a material having a band gap energy smaller than that of the layers 3, 6 and 8, at least one end surface of the layer 4 is used as a slant face, which is formed at 45 deg. to the lamination plane of the semiconductor layer, and light from the layer 4 is made to reflect in the direction rectangular to the lamination plane. |
