PURPOSE: To enable a navigation device for vehicle to guide the driver of its own vehicle along the optimum route when the device guides the driver along the route to a destination from the present location of the vehicle by comparing a route which preferentially considers the advancing direction of the vehicle and another route which does no preferentially consider the advancing direction. CONSTITUTION: A navigation device for vehicle calculates a first route which preferentially considers the advancing direction of its own vehicle (1) and another route which does not preferentially calculate the advancing direction (2) at the time of searching a route. Then the device selects (3) a route under a prescribed setting condition and displays the selected route. The setting condition includes the distance, running time, or the running easiness, such as the road width, kind of road, scene, etc., of each route. When, for example, the device compares the distance of each route with another, the device displays the second route in case the first route is longer than that of the second route by more than a prescribed value. In case the distance difference between the first and second routes is shorter than the prescribed value, the device displays the first route. |
