Cables (5), running over head-frame pulleys (2), connect the cabin (1) to the counterweight frame (3), which supports the wound iron cores (4) of two or more linear induction motors. Corresponding static iron circuits (6) are fixed, vertical and parallel, down the whole length of the rear shaft-wall (7). T-section guide rails (8), on the side walls, maintain a constant air-gap. The motors are identically constructed and rated, and supplied in parallel at variable voltage and frequency. The number installed is decided by the nominal lift load. Satisfactory load-sharing despite minor manufacturing or installation differences is obtained by designing for a higher than usual slip value - e.g. 8% rather than the 2 - 3% normally expected. |
