PURPOSE: To obtain a boosting charging system in which consumption of a fully charged battery is prevented while protecting the battery against overcharge having adverse effect on the service life of the battery. CONSTITUTION: Under a state where an NiMH battery pack 2 is loaded to a boosting charger 1 while being connected with an apparatus 3, a control circuit 15 recognizes a chargeable temperature range and a normal battery voltage based on the outputs from a thermistor 23 and a voltage detection circuit 16 and then turn a switch 14 ON to feed a current from a constant current circuit 13 to a battery 22. The control circuit 15 also detects that the temperature rising rate of the battery 22 has exceeded a predetermined value through the thermistor 23 and turns the switch 14 OFF to complete the boosting charge. When the apparatus 3 is used in an auxiliary charging section after completion of the boosting charge, current consumption is detected through a current detector 24 and the switch 14 is turned ON/OFF to compensate for the (self discharged power + power consumption of the apparatus) thus performing auxiliary pulsation charging. |
