PURPOSE: To provide an image forming device such as a copying machine capable of obtaining an output image with excellent quality by suppressing a rapid density fluctuation in the output image. CONSTITUTION: When a toner patch is fomed on a photoreceptor 401 in an image forming section 400, the density is measured by a toner density sensor 414. Then a gamma correction device 202 selects one of plural lookup tables based on the result of density measurement and controls a density characteristic. When the characteristic of the lookup table selected by the density measurement result is much different from a current lookup table, the density characteristic is gradually revised via a lookup table having a characteristic between both the characteristics. |
