PURPOSE: To provide a picture filing device controlling cache memories controlling the characteristics of the use forms of a still picture and a moving picture and improving the high speed response of the still picture and the moving picture at the time of reproduction. CONSTITUTION: A cache memory for a still picture 16 and a cache memory for moving picture 15 are provided. When reproduction request information is transmitted from a terminal equipment 3 through a communication line 2, a communication interface part 10 and a bus 18, the cache memory for a still picture 16 is controlled to start a memory cache operation if the reproduction of a partial picture in the still picture is judged to be requested in a control part 16b based on the reproduction request information. When the reproduction of the moving picture is judged to be requested in a control part 15b, the cache memory for moving picture 15 is controlled to start the memory cache operation. |
