PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display with a high display grade in a well-productive manner by providing plural colors of colored layers on a base, low-reflectance black coatings with almost the same thickness as the colored layers on the base among the colored layers, an insulating coating to cover the colored layers and the black coatings and an electrode layer and a liquid crystal orienting layer on the insulating coating. CONSTITUTION: Plural colors of colored layers 2R, 2G, 2B formed on a base 1 are in a stripe shape corresponding to three primary colors and colored as predetermined by using dyestuffs or pigments. Black coatings 3 formed among the colored layers 2R, 2G, 2B and on the base 1 therearound have almost the same thickness as the colored layers 2R, 2G, 2B and a low reflectance while keeping themselves high shading performance. An insulating coating 4 to cover the colored layers 2R, 2G, 2B and the black coatings 3 includes and organic coating of rudder silicon, organic titanic silicon or others, a non-organic coating of silicon dioxide or others or these laminates. An electrode layer 5 and a liquid crystal orienting layer 6 are formed on the insulating coating 4. |
