PURPOSE: To compensate the deficiency of light quantity at a peripheral part on a photoreceptor drum and to attain miniaturizing a device and enlarging a magnifying range. CONSTITUTION: In an image reader illuminating an original 2 placed on an original face by an illuminating means 1 including a white light source and recording or reading the original 2 by image-forming the original 2 on the surface of an image carrying means 8 by image-forming optical systems 5-7; a filter (surface of image-forming lens 6) for correcting the cos<4>πrule of the image-forming optical systems 5-7 having spectral transmission factor characteristic in accordance with the spectral characteristics of the image carrying means 8 is arranged in the optical path of the image-forming optical systems 5-7. The filter is at least either of a multilayered film interference filter where the spectral transmittance characteristics are different in accordance with an incident angle or a lens filter arranged at the inside of the image-forming optical system and using coloring optical material.
