PURPOSE: To provide such an electrifying member that a good image without stripe or spot image defects can be obtd. even when DC voltage and AC voltage are integrated and applied, stable electrification characteristics can be obtd. in various environments without being influenced by humidity or temp., and no image defect due to contamination on the surface of the electrification member is caused even when the electrifying member is used for a long time. CONSTITUTION: This electrifying member is brought into contact with the surface of the body to be charged to electrify the body. The surface of this electrifying member has such a structure that a low resistance material RL is dispersed in a high resistance material RH. RH is an org. polymer material having 1×10<5> -1×10<15>Ωcm volume resistance, while RL is conductive particles having 1×10<-3> to 1×<4>Ωcm volume resistance. The proportion of the low resistance material RL in the surface area of the electrifying member is in the range of 0.05<=RLA/Aall <=0.6, wherein Aall is the unit area of the surface of the electrifying member and RLA is the area of the low resistance material in Aall . |
