PURPOSE: To obtain a monitor for thrust bearing in which the sliding surface can be monitored surely even for such bearing as a tetrafluoroethylyne material exhibiting high thermal insulation is employed in the member of the sliding surface. CONSTITUTION: The monitor for thrust bearing comprises a gap sensor 15 for detecting the position where a sliding surface member constituting a stationary plate 11 faces a rotary plate 14 constituting the rotor of a vertical electric rotating machine, a support 16 for securing the gap sensor 15 to the stator side, a converter for converting a positional. signal of the sliding surface detected through the gap sensor 15 into a surface pressure signal of the sliding surface, and a unit for comparing the output from the converter with a preset threshold value to decide whether the electric rotating machine is operating normally. |
