PURPOSE: To obtain an image with high image quality without color slurring of a picked up object by selecting sequentially each color of an image pickup light so as to correct an optical axis of the image pickup light thereby picking up the same part of the object. CONSTITUTION: An R filter Fr has an angle of (θr -αr ) with respect to an optical axis and reads an image biased toward a rear end in the subscanning direction by 1/3 line with respect to no provision of the filter. An angle of a G filter Fg is (90 deg.-αg ) with respect to the optical axis and no read position in the subscanning direction is deviated. An angle of a B filter Fb is (θb -αb ) with respect to the optical axis and the filter reads an image biased toward a tip end in the subscanning direction by 1/3 line with respect to no provision of the filter. Since the image scanning section reads an image of the same point A at each color regardless of the movement in the subscanning direction, the read position is not deviated for each color and the image of the same range is read. Since the read position is corrected in this way, no color slurring in the subscanning direction is caused.
