PURPOSE: To prevent tailing of a polar compound by adding a polar compound whose boiling point is higher than that of an analytical sample solvent to a sample solution, and supplying the solution to a column. CONSTITUTION: A carrier gas which is held at a constant pressure and a constant flow rate by a carrier gas flow rate control portion 2 is supplied to a column 4, and a sample is introduced into a sample introducing portion 3 when the base line of a detector 5 is stabilized. The sample introduced is vaporized and supplied to the column 4, where a sample component is separated. The sample separated is detected by a detector 5 and its chromatogram is recorded in a recorder 6. The sample is an agricultural chemical containing DDVP, and a column vessel 7 is held at a temperature of about 40 deg.C for about one minute and then slowly heated to 260 deg.C. About 25μl/ml of diethylene glycol is added to the sample as a polar solvent. Therefore, the DDVP can be detected without tailing.
