PURPOSE: To prolong the life of a photosensitive layer by increasing thickness thereof while suppressing increasing in its length size by cutting off the parts which are formed at the ends of an electrophotographic photoreceptor having the photosensitive layer on the outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical substrate and where the film thickness is nonuniform together with the substrate by a prescribed length. CONSTITUTION: The drum 1 right after a coating stage has an effective image region where the film thickness of the photosensitive layer 3 is uniform and non-effective image regions 3b of the parts where the film thickness is nonuniform at both ends thereof. The noneffective image regions 3b are cut off together with the substrate 2 by lathing after the coating stage. Namely, the non-effective image regions 3b are cut together with the substrate 2 by a cutting tool 4 while the drum 1 held by a chucking jig 5 is kept rotated in an arrow direction by the lathe. The life of the drum is prolonged by increasing the film thickness of the photosensitive layer and the expansion of the non-effective image regions is suppressed by cutting off the parts where the film thickness is nonuniform together with the substrate according to such constitution. |
