PURPOSE: To easily realize reverse reproduction display in a short time. Frame memories FM1-FM4 constitution from the decoding circuit 202 of a variable length code, which decodes encoding picture information, to an adder 206, a control sequencer 300 controlling writing/reading into/from the respective frame memories FM1-FM4 by arbitrarily using the respective frame memories FM1-FM4 without depending on the moving picture sequence of MPEG1 and CPU 303 are provided. At the time of reverse reproduction, the control sequencer 300 and CPU 303 control a decoding processing and the frame memories FM1-FM4. Thus, only an I-picture and a P-picture are decoded unit necessary encoding picture information is detected in a state where picture information which is decoded immediately before is accumulated in one of the frame memories FM1-FM4. |
