PURPOSE: To provide a device and method for processing character with which a pair of words matched with a suppression example is controlled not to be outputted as a first analytical candidate if the suppression example matched with the document field of an input sentence is detected at the time of deciding clause structure by defining a pair of unsuitable words as the suppression example of the first analytical candidate of clause structure, storing it distinguishably from an example suitable for the first analytical candidate and storing the suppression example together with field information to be suppressed. CONSTITUTION: A pair of words unsuitable as the first analystic candidate for the clause structure of an input object Japanese word is stored in an opposite example storage means corresponding to its field information to be suppressed as the suppression example, and only when the field information of an input sentence is matched with the field information, that word pair can be controlled not to be the first analystic candidate. Thus, analystic accuracy can be improved. Besides, since that effect can be provided without registering all the examples suitable as the first clause candidate, this effect can be provided at a low cost. |
