PURPOSE: To provide a character processor equipped with high operability and a single Chinese character (KANJI) input function for reducing the number of KANJI to be inspected by designating any KANJI as a source character, designating any radical consisting of the designated source character, and retrieving the KANJI equipped with a pattern subtracting the designated radical from the designated source character. CONSTITUTION: A source character designating means designates any KANJI as the source character, a radical designating means designates the radical consisting of the designated source character, and a minus radical retrieving means retrieves the KANJI equipped with the pattern subtracting the designated radical from the designated source character. With this minus radical retrieval, any complicated pattern which can not be conventionally recognized as a radical can be easily designated so that the number of single KANJI candidates to be displayed can be reduced. In this case, a ROM 4 is composed of a single KANJI radical dictionary 4B to be referred to when retrieving the single KANJI radical, single KANJI stroke dictionary 4K to be referred to when retrieving the number of single KANJI strokes, single KANJI reading dictionary 4Y to be referred to when retrieving single KANJI reading, and minus radical dictionary 4M. |
