<p>PURPOSE: To control the quantity of electric charges and to form a high quality printed image independently of the temp. and humidity of the environment by incorporating an organosilane compd. mainly into the surface layer part of toner particles. CONSTITUTION: An organosilane compd. is incorporated mainly into the surface layer parts of toner particles. That is, the objective toner is obtd. by polymerizing a monomer system contg. an organosilane compd. having a functional group whose polarity is relatively high in the lipophilic part among organosilane compds. each having hydrophilic and lipophilic (hydrophobic) parts in each molecule. Each of the organosilane compds. is also called a silane coupling agent in general, is used for controlling the interface between different materials and is usually used for improving the dispersibility of a pigment in a coating material and the adhesion or adhesiveness of an org. film to a metal or ceramics and as a binder for inorg. and org. materials. Since the organosilane compd. is introduced, electrostatic chargeability can be imparted to the particles without adding an electric charge controlling agent.</p> |
