PURPOSE: To preferentially select the speed of scanning motor for shortening a first copying time, reducing noise or prolonging the life of a polygon mirror part. CONSTITUTION: In this image forming device, an image signal light beam based on an image signal is radiated from a semiconductor laser 21 to the surface of a photoreceptor drum 11 so as to form a latent image, and the latent image is developed, transferred and fixed on a recording medium. The device is equipped with a rotating polygon mirror 23 provided on an optical path where the image signal light beam is radiated to the surface of the drum 11 and allowing the image signal light beam to scan the surface of the drum 11, a CPU 200 controlling the rotating speed of the mirror 23 and a scanner motor speed control circuit 30. Then, the mirror 23 is rotated corresponding to selecting speed at the time of standing by forming the image and specified speed at the time of forming the image. |
