PURPOSE: To obtain a rolling bearing unit which prevents a foreign body from creeping into a space used to incorporate a turning body and a sensor and which can be made small and lightweight. CONSTITUTION: A sensor 31 is carried and held at the inside of a cover 27 which has been fitted and fixed to an outer-ring corresponding member 1. A seal ring 37 is arranged on the inside-diameter side of an inside-diameter-side cylinder part 30 constituting the cover 27. The sensor 31 and the seal ring 37 are superposed in the radial direction, the size in the radial direction of a hub 4 is made small, and a rolling bearing unit is made small and lightweight.
