摘要 PURPOSE: To improve shock resistance, do not cause parallax between a pen point and a display position, and manufacture a liquid crystal display element by a simple manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION: A mixed material at least containing liquid crystal material and polymerized compound is poured in between a pair of substrates 1a, 1b, and heat or light is applied thereto so as to separate the liquid crystal material and the polymerized compound from each other by polymerizing reaction. Hereby, a liquid crystal territory 6 and a high polymer territory 7 are formed selectively on optional positions. The pressure resistance value of the high polymer territory 7 is over 10g/mmϕ, and the pressure resistance value necessary for a pen input type liquid crystal display element or a portable information single film type liquid crystal display element can be sufficiently insured. In addition, at phase separation, by giving optional vibration to the base plates or impressing optional voltage between both substrates, particulates such as substrate gap control material (spacer) are easily taken in the high polymer territory, the high polymer territory 7 can contain many particulates 9, and hence the shock resistance is further improved.
