发明名称 DISTRIBUTION-TYPE DETECTOR USING SCINTILLATION FIBER
摘要 PURPOSE: To improve position resolution by using delaying optical fibers, which do not react with radiation or optical pulses having specified wavelengths for the signal delaying means of the scintillation fibers. CONSTITUTION: When optical pulses 101 of radiation are cast into scintillation fibers 102a and 102b, fluorescence is generated in the fibers. Optical pulses 110a and 110b generated by the fluorescence are propagated to both ends of the fibers. After the propagation in the fibers, the pulses 110a and 110b are cast into photodetectors 104a and 104b. The electric signal having the wave height, which is proportional to the difference of the input times of two signals, is outputted from a time-to-pulse height converter 107. Two timing pulses are inputted into the converter 107 for the light of one radiation. Since a fiber 103 is present, the pulses are inputted with the time difference. When the length of the fiber 103 is adjusted, the minimum value of the time difference of two timing pulses inputted into the converter 107 can be adjusted.
