A microwave generator (2) within the oven casing, behind an aperture (3) in one side wall (1b), thaws, reheats or cooks food (4) placed on a turntable (5,6). Additionally, parallel horizontal grooves in each side wall (1a,1b) accept, at one of several levels selectable, above the microwave aperture, a metal partition (7), on which food can also be cooked. This operation is performed by a top-mounted radiant element (9), or by heat transmitted through the partition, which is not itself penetrated by microwaves, from a heat-absorbent, e.g. ferritic, layer (10), bonded to its underside and receiving energy from the microwave unit. Opt., these two methods can be used simultaneously to cook the food (8) on both sides. |
