Process using stamp and anvil for fixing overlapping metal sheets

The process clamps overlapping sheets of metal to each other, by local deformation using a stamp (110) and an anvil (132). At least two moulding components (151) are supported on surfaces (122) on the anvil, and are able to move laterally. The components are surrounded by an elastic strip (161). The surfaces are inclined upwards in a radially outwards direction. The length of the moulding components and the angles of the inclined surfaces to the longitudinal axis of the device are chosen, so that an inwards force is generated on the components during stamping, and the toppling moment is kept to a minimum.
