Piston compressor with cam on drive shaft for compact fluid compressors, e.g. for machine tools

The drive shaft (11) is rotatably and centrally mounted in cylinder blocks (13,14) with cylinder bores (13a,14a). A cam (30) on the drive shaft comprises opposite cam faces (30a,b) with two sections, each with a specified width. The width of the second sections (30a,b2), which move the piston (16) into its BDC, is narrower than that of the first sections, moving the piston into its TDC. All pistons are coupled to the drive shaft via sliders (33,34), moving along a preset track over the cam faces. The sliders and cam convert the common rotation in the piston reciprocal motion for the fluid compression.
