A magnetic-inductive flowmeter for flowing media has a pipe (1) made of ceramic material that serves as a measurement duct, a magnet for generating a magnetic field at least substantially perpendicular to the pipe axis, at least two measurement electrodes (2, 3) preferably perpendicular to the pipe axis and preferably perpendicular to the magnetic field direction, and at least two shielding electrodes (4, 5) that protect the measurement electrodes (2, 3) against outer electric fields. The measurement electrodes (2, 3) and the shielding electrodes (4, 5) are arranged outside the pipe (1). The disclosed magnetic-inductive flowmeter is characterised in that a ceramic material layer (6) surrounds the pipe (1), in that the measurement electrodes (2, 3) are arranged substantially inside layer (6), in particular at the surface between layer (6) and pipe (1), and in that the shielding electrodes (4, 5) are arranged inside layer (6), in particular at the surface between layer (6) and pipe (1), more particularly at the outer surface of layer (6), so that the shielding electrodes (4, 5) protect the measurement electrodes (2, 3) from the outside.
